Leadership

After Chase and I founded this organization, he graduated in 2025 and passed the leadership of 1 Citizen at a Time to myself and two other NYC high school students. We didn’t just keep it running, we expanded the mission and helped positively impact more people. What started as one-on-one citizenship tutoring became a broader civic engagement effort, adding voter pre-registration events for 16- and 17-year-olds across their schools.

I am a high school student at Horace Mann School and an Ambassador with 1 Citizen at a Time. As I have gotten older, I have learned that civic engagement begins with taking action in your own community. After being introduced to the organization through my friend and co-founder Ryan, I began tutoring green card holders preparing for U.S. citizenship. I later brought the organization’s voter pre-registration initiative to Horace Mann, giving students an opportunity to learn about civic participation and get involved. Through these experiences, I have found a meaningful way to turn my interest in civic engagement into action and help others do the same.

I am a high school student at Loyola School and an Ambassador with 1 Citizen at a Time. Growing up in New York City and playing club baseball with teammates from different backgrounds taught me that everyone has something to contribute. I wanted to carry that lesson beyond the field, which led me to 1 Citizen at a Time through my friendship with co-founder Ryan. I became a student tutor for green card holders preparing to become U.S. citizens, where I saw how meaningful one-on-one support can be. I also helped bring the organization’s voter pre-registration initiative to Loyola, organizing events that taught students about pre-registration and guided eligible students through the process. Through these experiences, I have been able to help others while finding ways to become more involved in my own community.
